The National Science Foundation (NSF) recently awarded $342,000 to the Department of Chemical Engineering (ChemE) at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez (UPRM) to acquire an X-ray Diffraction Unit with in Situ DSC and Reaction Capabilities. Dr. Arturo Hernández, professor in ChemE, is the lead investigator in the proposal, whose objective is to support research and education efforts in nanotechnology and engineering materials at UPRM. The proposal Co-PIs are doctors María Martínez-Iñesta (ChemE) and O. Marcelo Suárez (General Engineering Department, GenE). Senior personnel affiliated to this project include doctors Nelson Cardona-Martínez (ChemE ) and Oscar Perales-Pérez (GenE).
